Virginijus Grabliauskas, Iran’s junior chess coach converted to Islam. Abna New Agency reported that this Lithuanian grandmaster attended Supreme Leader’s office in Mazandaran Province, one of Iran’s Northern Province, and converted to Shiite Islam after studying Islamic and Shiite teachings.
Virginijus, who has adopted Islamic name Ali for himself, says that 4 years of studying Islam in Iran convinced him to feel that only Ali (as) would bring salvation for him in this world and afterlife.
“So, I decided to convert from Catholicism to Twelver Shi’ism sect, and I adopted the name Ali,” he said. “I want to be a Shiite of Ali (as) and live under the Islam’s flag,” he added.
Report says that Grabliauskas has read his Declaration of Faith officially and accepted Twelver Shi’ism sect as his new faith.
